Guidance Counselor
My name is Leslie Kreikemeier, and as school counselor, I think I have the best job in the school! I get to celebrate so many successes with the students as they transition from high school into college from their acceptance into school to getting a scholarship. From the time they are seventh graders, I witness their orientation into high school, watch them select the classes that will interest them and help them grow, and see them ponder what career choices are on their horizons. Sure, there are a few tears shed in my office, but life is full of ups and downs. It is so rewarding when a graduate comes back and tells me how prepared they were for their college careers based on the skills, knowledge and jump start they got in high school here at Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
I began my teaching career at Dodge Public Schools as a 7-12 English teacher. While at West Point Public Schools, I earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English to allow me to teach dual-credit English through Nebraska Wesleyan and Northeast Community College. After three years at GACC, I transitioned into the role of provisional school counselor, earning my Masters in School Counseling in May 2022. I enjoy the mix of teaching and counseling.
Teaching at GACC has been a blessing as it allowed me to spend more time with my three sons that attended GACC. The administration encourages staff to be present for their children. I can't imagine what it will be like when my youngest graduates, but I am so grateful I'll always have "my kids" to teach and watch perform and compete.
